If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
January is here!! As we gradually recover from the hectic festivities of the month gone by, we realise with sudden panic that we have a long stretch of a year ahead of us. And while we make our countless new year resolutions and weigh ourselves down with the ”I shall…I will…I won’ts“, we often forget to look back and acknowledge all the amazing things, big and small, that we have managed to achieve and in the year gone by.
Whatever the last year has brought you, it is always better to start a New Year on a positive note. Reflect on all the successes of the last year. It will make you appreciate yourself more. And being positive about yourself makes you more resilient and gives you the strength to face the challenges that the year ahead throws at you. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Win-win resolutions are a great way to start. You make small changes to yourself and are rewarded with instant returns (we don’t mean that trudge to the gym…nothing instant about it!). What if we all resolved to be more friendly, open, understanding and patient with others? Can you see a flipside to that? To be more accepting and judge people less, would that not make you more friends? We all expect kindness, patience and compassion from others. What if we started the ball rolling? When you put yourselves in another person’s shoes, you change the way you feel about that person. Positive thoughts breed positive results.
Go on then! Make those resolutions. You have nothing to lose. We hope you have a lot to look forward to in 2014 and wish you the very best at achieving each one of your aspirations!
